If Hunter Thompson were down there, he would be saving lives, fighting off looters with a .357 Magnum in one hand and a bottle of Wild Turkey in the other, and live to tell the tale.<br><br>He would write about it, with himself a character in the story, not to toot his own horn, but to show the tragedy of Haiti in a compelling manner. People would read it, people would be touched by it and people would send help. <br><br>I;m sure the SPJ would complain about Thompson's work, but all the SPJ is warning against is self-aggrandizement and overpromotion, which cable news does well enough.
